Carlo Crespo, MD

Chief Executive Officer

Carlo Crespo, MD, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Madison Core Laboratories (MCL), a Company that has been serving the healthcare needs of the Southeast United States for over 7 years.  By providing quality laboratory services at affordable costs to benefit the patients and the community, Dr. Crespo has led MCL to become #123 on the 2022 Inc. Regionals Southeast list.  

Prior to MCL, Dr. Crespo was the Clinical Development Analyst at WESTMED Medical Group where he combined his passion for Information Technology and clinical research by determining the efficiency of the Nursing Coumacare and Physician Care programs.  This path led him to be the Consulting Director of IT for 3rd Party Logistics Group, Inc. where he developed a company-wide EDI initiative as well as updated current business practices. Dr. Crespo also has held the positions of Vice-President of Business Development for a human resource staffing company, Consultant for database management and EMR systems, and President and Managing Director for Care Core Solutions, a company that provided healthcare IT consulting and solutions. 

Dr. Crespo received his MD from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 2015 and his Undergrad from Pace University in 2009.

Jeff Wisotzkey, PhD, HCLD, CC

Chief Scientific Officer and Laboratory Director

Jeff Wisotzkey, Ph.D., HCLD, CC, serves as Chief Scientific Officer and Laboratory Director. Dr. Wisotzkey brings to MCL over 25 years of experience in scientific leadership and laboratory operations in multiple areas including Molecular Diagnostics, Chemistry/Immunochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, and Toxicology and Genomics. Dr. Wisotzkey oversees all MCL’s scientific and clinical development, including the execution of clinical laboratory activities and regulatory affairs. He also provides strategic and tactical input for research and development opportunities.

Dr. Wisotzkey received his doctoral degree in molecular biology from the University of Houston and he completed postdoctoral training at Pennsylvania State University’s Hershey Medical Center. He is a board-certified High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Clinical Consultant (CC).

During his career, Dr. Wisotzkey has held senior positions with clinical laboratories including Chief Scientific Officer and Clinical Laboratory Director for Diatherix-Eurofins, in Huntsville, Alabama. Clinical Laboratory Director and Chief Scientific Officer, Health Network Laboratories in Allentown, PA; Vice President, Molecular Pathology and Laboratory Director, Genomind, King of Prussia, PA; Director. Molecular Pathology and Technical Director of Laboratory Operations, Central PA Alliance Laboratory, York, PA; and Technical Director, Molecular Diagnostics and Research, York Hospital, York, PA. He has also facilitated the build out and implementation of several additional clinical laboratory services in smaller laboratories around the country and serves on numerous professional advisory boards and industry committees. Dr. Wisotzkey is an avid student and teacher of leadership and leadership communications.

Jerry C. Smith

Chief Financial Officer

Jerry C. Smith, Madison Core Laboratorys Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), is a seasoned financial executive. His deep and extensive experience in leading the financial operations of healthcare businesses, and knowledge of complex revenue cycle management make him a great fit as the Companys CFO. He has a proven track record of driving revenue growth that makes him instrumental as we continue to position the Company for the future.

Smith brings to MCL a CPA background and over 25 years of experience in finance, accounting, revenue cycle management, and mergers and acquisitions in multiple sectors of healthcare and technology. He most recently served as Interim Chief Financial Officer of Legacy Hospice, LLC on behalf of Prairie Capital, L.P. a Chicago-based private equity firm. 

During his career, Smith has successfully served in CFO and senior-level positions. From 2013-2021, Smith was associated with early-stage rapid-growth MedWorksRx as CFO. MedWorksRx developed into Proses Rx, a comprehensive outpatient pharmacy solution for healthcare organizations. Between 2009 and 2011, Smith was CFO at Proxsys LLC, which was acquired by Athenahealth, a leading provider of cloud-based business services for physician practices and hospitals. He continued with Athenahealth as Vice President, Finance, and later served as Director of Enterprise Strategy for the organization. In this role, he dealt with both physicians and hospitals for their revenue management solutions. 

Smiths healthcare experience also includes serving with St. Vincents Health System as Vice President, Finance and Director, Business Services, and Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of USA Healthcare LLC. 

Smith holds a Bachelor of Science (BS), Accounting, cum laude from Samford University, Birmingham, AL. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Inactive and a Fellow (MHA Equivalent) of the Healthcare Advisory Board, Washington.

J. Scott Reynolds, MBA

Vice President, Sales

Scott Reynolds, MCLs Vice President of Sales, has overall responsibility for sales and account management including physicians and urgent care practices, long-term care and assisted living facilities, patient service centers, and employer services.

As an experienced, award-winning sales leader, Reynolds brings to MCL 20+ years of successful sales and sales management experience healthcare. 

Prior to MCL, Reynolds was Regional Sales Director for Aralez Pharmaceuticals in Cardiovascular Specialty Sales, and served as Regional Sales Director for Atherotech Diagnostics and also Compass Lab Services. Reynolds also worked with Forest Pharmaceuticals as Divisional Sales Manager, Cardiovascular, and at Daiichi Sankyo as District Sales Manager, Diabetes. 

Throughout his career, he has earned Top sales and leadership awards including a Presidents Club Award, Gold Cup Sales Award, multiple Top Regional Sales awards, Outstanding Leadership Award, and District Manager Award. 

Reynolds holds an MBA degree from Samford University and received a BS degree from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

Martha Donze, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-SCP

Vice President, Strategy and Business Operations

Martha Donze joined Madison Core Laboratories in June 2020.  She brings over 30 years of industry experience in pharmaceuticals and commercial laboratories.  At MCL, she provides oversight for strategic planning, human resources, client services, communications, and logistics.

Prior to joining MCL, she was associated with Axcan Pharma (Aptalis), serving the company internationally as Vice President, Corporate Administration. Her earlier work includes service with Alabama Power Company, Avondale Mills, and Employers Insurance in human resources and communications.

Ms. Donze also has a successful track record in aligning human capital initiatives with corporate priorities, with extensive experience in strategic planning, mergers, acquisitions, and compensation programs.  

Ms. Donze received her Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.  She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), and a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
